On Story presented by Austin Film Festival
Lead Editor and Editor, Seasons 3-6
On Story is a television co-production between Austin’s PBS affiliate, KLRU, and Austin Film Festival; it airs in most major PBS markets nationwide. The show aims to serve as a behind the scenes look at the filmmaking and screenwriting of current, popular films and television series from the perspective of the writer and major creative decision makers. Through panel footage culled from the annual Austin Film Festival, the show is constructed around central themes and individuals.
Once selections from the panels were made, a slate of episodes were laid out on paper from transcripts and the salient portions of the panel arranged to form a ‘paper cut’ or edit of the episodes. It would then be left to the editor to assemble the episode from the paper cut and then work to find narrative and flow, as well as placement and timing for film clips referenced in discussion.
